Fire Prevention Division…

The Fire Prevention Division is a vital part of the Jasper County Fire Rescue team. By ensuring compliance with both local adopted and state fire codes. Through inspections, investigations, plans review and outreach. This division ensures Jasper residents, businesses and visitors are safe.

Fire Inspections & Fire Code Enforcement

The purpose of this division is to gain voluntary compliance with all applicable fire codes as adopted by the State of South Carolina. Annual fire inspections are conducted of all existing commercial properties and are followed up for compliance.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Access road approval

  • Knox Box program

  • Request inspections in cooperation with Jasper County Building and planning department

  • Enforcing of adopted Jasper County burn ordinance

All of the employees in the division are certified by the state of South Carolina as Certified Fire Marshals and are required to maintain those certifications through continuing education of accredited agencies.

Origin & Cause Determination

Jasper County Fire Rescue is authorized under South Carolina State Law to investigate all fires within its jurisdiction. Fire investigations are conducted by certified members of the Fire Prevention Division, all of whom are credentialed through either:

  • The International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI)

  • The National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI)

Investigators work with other agencies like:

  • Jasper County Sheriffs Office

  • South Carolina Law Enforcement division (sled)

  • Other state agencies

Our Investigators maintain certifications through annual training.
